Nursery Class 2023-24

There are a few places still available in our excellent Nursery provision.

Give your child the best start before coming to school.

We offer the most nurturing, caring and Catholic environment for your family.

Nursery class teachers are Mrs Duxbury and Mrs Warren

Our nursery morning begins with a very warm welcome from Mrs Duxbury and Mrs Warren. We believe that teaching is a work of heart and endeavour to provide a happy, safe and caring environment for all children to develop.

Phase One Phonics concentrates on developing children's speaking and listening skills and lays the foundation for the phonic work which starts in phase 2. The emphasis during phase 1 is to get children attuned to sounds around them and ready to begin oral blending and segmenting skills. Our 'Little Wandle' Phonics scheme has some useful information for parents for ways in which you can support your child at home.

Parents as Partners, we believe that parents and teachers need to work together in harmony. We all have the same goal, to help make our children feel safe, happy and reach their full potential.

Reading books are changed every Friday and we encourage you to take some time each day to discuss the pictures, ask questions about the book, talk about characters, the beginning, middle and end and predict what might happen next.

"The whole world opened up to me when I learned to read"

P.E. sessions are every Wednesday and we are extremely lucky to have the wonderful coaches from EdStart teaching us. We encourage children to dress appropriately for PE sessions in sports wear for better ease of movement and comfort.

Wellcomm is a wonderful tool used in EYFS to help teachers assess and develop your child's speech and language skills. It helps us to identify your child's needs and provides us with activities to help which we will share for you to use at home.
