Year 1

Ms Wildy Class Teacher and SENDCo.

A big welcome back after the Christmas break. Our new topic Childhood and the children will be learning so much more as they delve into the curriculum subjects such as Geography, History, Art, Science and so many more. I have added a parent grid to have a look at and their are some useful website links below. If you have any concerns please DOJO us to arrange a time to speak to us, of course we are happy for a quick chat at the door but if you need longer please let us make some time for that special chat. The children will need to bring their reading book daily and we will change these every Tuesday and Friday. All children will read a guided reading book and shared read everyday in class. PE kits will be required on Monday and Tuesday as the children will be taking part in PE sessions with Ed Start and Dance with Bill. Thank you as always for your continued support and we all look forward to a fantastic term with you.

Our daily routine and weekly routine is very busy, we hope this helps!

PE will take place every Monday and Thursday and children will require their PE kit. Children can come to school dressed in their full PE kit on PE days, please ensure that all uniform is labelled to prevent loss.

We use a scheme called Little Wandle which follows a systematic phonics programme. We will also deliver booster sessions to enhance your child's skills in phonics and reading fluency. All links and helpful links and sessions will be posted on our class dojo page.

Learning outside the classroom (LOTC)

Children will be involved in learning outdoors and orienteering will be carried out on a Friday so please send any outdoor clothing and wellies as your child may get muddy or wet.

Homework will be set every Saturday alongside their spellings from Wednesday and will be related to our weekly learning to encourage skills at remembering and knowing more. Children returning homework by the following week will receive dojo points and grow their points to collect dojo prizes. Spelling logs will be kept in school and practiced on a Wednesday to assess the children.
