Autumn 1 Year B - Scrumdiddlyumptious
This half term Year 4's imaginative learning project is called...'Scrumdiddlyumptious'.
Below are some links to help you get more involved with your child's education.........
The homework grid contains 6 pieces of homework for your child to have a go at, in addition to their weekly spellings, reading books and maths and English homework. Your child can complete as many pieces as he or she wishes during the half term.
During our topic we will be looking at a range of foods, some healthy......some not so!!!
We will be designing and making our own smoothies....healthy where possible and then designing packaging for them.
Where does all our food come from?? Year 4 are going to find out!
We will be looking a range of stories where food is a key part of events. We will also be sailing the seven seas on the trail of Dr James Lind on his quest to rid those who plied their trade at sea of the dreaded SCURVY!
In 1872, Lewis Carroll, famous for writing the Alice in Wonderland books, wrote a nonsense poem called 'The Jabberwocky'. Year 4 will be writing their own nonsense poems using food as their theme.
During the course of this topic, we will look at the 'growing' desire for shoppers to head for the 'fairtrade' produce and the journey it takes to reach our tables.
