Science - Planets
Our topic this half term is Stargazers ... so we started the term with some stargazing into space! We have been learning all about our Planets and their key characteristics. Some information surprised us but some we already knew... like Venus! Venus is the second planet from the Sun yet it is the HOTTEST planet in our solar system!!
Today and everyday, Year 6 Remember those who fought for our country! We worked in small groups to create some beautiful acrostic poems to show Respect to those who risked their lives for us.
Science - Phases of the Moon
We have also been learning all about the Phases of the Moon! Did you know, it takes 28 days for the Moon to orbit Earth and in those 28 days the way in which we see the Moon is forever changing! We presented our Phases of the Moon knowledge by using Oreos! YUM!
History - Space Travel
We have been exploring how Space Travel has developed and where it first started. We presented our findings on a chronological timeline! We have also been researching all about the famous astronomer - Galileo!
Geography - Physical and Human Features
We have been looking at aerial photography taken from Space and have used these images to identify human and physical features of Earth.
Design and Technology - Biscuits
Our focus in DT this half term has been biscuits! YUMMY! We have taken time to taste and evaluate existing products, completed some market research to find the most popular flavour of biscuit, planned our own biscuits and then finally baked and decorated our creations! I think the best bit for everyone, was eating their biscuits at the end.
Since the start of September, Year 6 have taken part in the Job Junction programme! They have identified their own qualities and skills, discussed transferable skills, explored a variety of careers, discussed overcoming potential barriers and understood the importance of self-belief and following our dreams.
It has been an amazing programme to participate in and we have all thoroughly enjoyed it. Each and every child has engaged in all activities, games and sessions and have even created their own personal CV's. We have participated in mock interviews and today have sadly concluded the programme.
Year 6 have graduated from the Job Junction and are now ready to follow their dreams and reach their goals! Well done Year 6. We are so so so proud of you!! I can't wait to see you fulfilling your dream jobs in the future!!!!
