Our DT ambassadors 2018-2019
At St Antony's, we like to create engaging learning projects that the children enjoy and are memorable for them. Here are some of the favourite projects the children have enjoyed:
Patricia (Year 4)- "I enjoyed making earmuffs in year 3, it was fun because I like sewing".
Nadia (Year 5)- "I enjoyed making burgers in year 3 because we got to eat them and bath bombs in year 4".
Eimantas (Year 6)- "I enjoyed making bread and designing biscuits. I enjoy taking things home to use".
Welcome to the Design and Technology area of our school website!
In Design Technology, we follow the Nuffield Approach as a guideline for teaching. Children are given opportunities to Research, Innovate, Make and Evaluate. Everything we teach is underpinned by the National Curriculum objectives for the Year Group.
Have a look at some of the ideas we use from the Nuffield Approach in the sample projects below...
Year 5 & 6 have been star bakers in their 'Hola Mexico!' topic, exploring Mexican food and learning to follow a recipe. They also visited Hugo's burritos in town where they were able to taste ingredients and use them to make their own burritos!
Year 3 & 4 are currently learning about Ancient Greek leisure in their 'Gods and mortals' topic. They will be using sewing skills to create their own board game. Pictures to follow!
Year 1 & 2 are excited to start their 'Splendid skies' topic, where they will be designing their own sun catchers and evaluating them using a design criteria. Pictures to follow.
