Summer 1 - Scream Machine!

Roll up, roll up! You're going on a day trip to a theme park to soak up the unique sights, smells and sounds of the fair. We will learn about the science behind roller coasters and design our own theme park. 

In English we will be focusing on: adverts, short narrative with dialogue, poetry, biography and autobiography. 

In Mathematics we will be focusing on: the four operations - adding; subtracting; multiplying and dividing (including decimals); fractions; percentages; line graphs; pie-charts; statistics and measurements. 

In Science we will be focusing on: Evolution and inheritance, electricity and sound. 

In R.E we will be focusing on: Death and New Life. 

In History we will be focusing on: History of theme parks. 

In Geography we will be focusing on: Theme parks in the UK and overseas. 

In P.E we will be working on: Games and Ball Skills. 

In Art and Design we will be focusing on: Photography and abstract art. 

In Design and Technology we will be focusing on: Ride designs, mechanisms and working models. 

In Music we will be focusing on: Charanga.

Art and Design - Funfair Carts

We have been designing our very own funfair carts using some research of existing rides and incorporating the things we love!! Our resident artists - Mrs Duxbury - has taught us how to draw our very own carts and has then inspired us to be creative with our designs. Here are a couple for you to see... 

 

 

Mathematics - Scale Drawings

With our topic being theme parks, we have used this theme to learn all about scaled drawings! We have learnt that the actual sizes of buildings would be difficult to draw onto paper and so therefore builders, architects and many other professions use scaled drawings to complete their designs. We have used some scaled drawings to create our very own theme parks!!
