I'm really delighted to share the news that following the Salford Songbook workshops at Laudato Si' Centre last July, our composer Hannah King has now completed the full set of  songs, which includes 'The Pollinator Polka' workshopped with your pupils. It's a fantastic song and I know children are going to love singing it, as part of the full set of six songs entitled 'Songs of the Earth'.

We are currently working on a set of resources, including learning aids and backing tracks which are going to be available in the New Year. We will begin teaching all six songs to schools from January 2025 and we would like to organise a professional video recording of your school pupils singing their song as part of these new resources. We've got a window of February - March 2025 to do this and could factor this in as part of the usual weekly session or arrange something additionally but we'd need somewhere quiet, perhaps the local church? Something we can arrange in the New Year hopefully.

The culmination of the project is going to be an exclusive launch event which will take place in the main Lyric Theatre at The Lowry on Friday 16 May 2025. This will kick off the international Laudato Si' Week which takes place the following week and coincides with the tenth anniversary of Pope Francis's encyclical. 

We are inviting all schools involved in our Salford Schools Singing Programme to take part in this 'Big Sing' event featuring over 1,000 children from across the Diocese of Salford. More details in the attached flyer.
