Sacramental Programme

The Sacramental programme consists of a series of classes and celebrations for parents and their children (Year 3 or older in some cases) in preparation for receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.  The preparation classes take place after school, in school on Mondays.

The Sacramental Programme is the means by which baptised children can make their own personal commitment to God and continue their spiritual journeys into full membership of the Catholic Church.

Baptism is the first of three Sacraments of Initiation. The programme begins with the children presenting themselves to God and the parish to say that they are now choosing to continue on their sacramental journey.

The programme rives to help children grow into our school and parish family and feel a sense of belonging to the wider family of God.

The children made their first Reconciliation in Advent.

First Holy Communions will take place at St. Joseph's Church on two dates this year:

Sunday 16th of June 2024  and Sunday 23rd of June 2024.

Salford Diocese have produced short 5 minute videos for parents of children on the First Holy Communion programme exploring various themes around the Mass finishing with three reflection questions.
